Ma'ata is the Senior Solicitor of our Disaster Response Legal Service. She joined Legal Aid NSW in 2019 just before the devastating black summer bushfires, and has been helping people with continuous disasters since.
If you have been affected by a disaster, such as the recent floods, it might be difficult to know where to get help. Ma'ata says:
'Following a disaster, many people are overwhelmed. There are a lot of things to worry about and insurance can be quite complicated. Even for somebody who is usually quite capable of handling their insurance claim, after a disaster it's too much.
Anyone who lives in a disaster affected community or area can come and talk to us and get some legal advice.'
